Feeding an 8 month old

He likes to feed himself, and I've started having trouble feeding him baby food. I am a single parent, so I don't have a lot of time to cook. I'm looking for some ideas of some quick and easy things for him to eat. Obviously fresh fruits or cooked veggies. What else can I give him? Maybe something that I'd cook for myself and then feed him as well. --He doesn't have any teeth yet.

  • Once my son could pick up food and put it in his mouth himself I simply cut whatever we were having VERY small and let him have at it. It's messy, but they love it, and you can always help them get it in there.

  • My daughter didn't cut her first tooth until she was 11, almost 12, months old. She was a champ at gumming things to death. Make him whatever you're eating, just cut it into small bits for him so he doesn't choke, and only give him a few bits at a time too. My son cut his first two teeth at 4 months and his next two at 11 months.

BOTH of my kids would chipmunk their food so I had to watch that.
