My DD has a neuro condition we did not know about. It can cause things like legs to bow, curved back, eye tumors, and harmless tumors. At first we were heartbroken, but as time goes on we see it is not so bad. Should we have other children knowing that they could too have this or use donor sperm and hope for the best honest donors? If 20-30 people DH’s family and only 3 have issues we feel our odds are pretty good. Is it selfish or does it matter if the child will be loved completely?

Having more kids, sick babies, sperm donor,

  • if its not so bad i would say it should be fine - have you talked to a genetisist? they can tell you what the odds are that you will have another child like this...
or www.wikipedia.org may have that already - if you type in the medical name for the condition it will tell you if that is known to occur every time if both parents cary this gene - and that can help you decide.
i have a friend who had two babies within 13 months of each other and if she had known that both her and her husband carried the autism gene and they would have 100% chance that all of her kids born would have autism or at least cary the autism gene she could have at least spread it out far enough so both parents and children would have pleanty of time to adjust to their disability.
