Is it wrong to name my baby after a harry potter charater?

I am a HUGE dorky fan!!!! I mom said she would be pissed if I did. I don't mean like Albus or anything I was just thinking about for a boy Wesley James (James from HP) or Molly or Ginevra or maybe even Charlie William.

  • I think if these are names you and your partner agree on, then nobody else should really have a say.
If you think you can say and love them for the rest of your parenting life, then go for it :)

  • not wrong... just not what I would do. Make SURE you won't regret it later!!

  • I went to high school with a girl who had twins during our senior year. She named them Jasmine and Ariel. Two years later she had another girl who she named Belle. I talked to her a few years ago and she really regrets her name choices. Just food for thought.

  • Honestly, none of those names SCREAM Harry potter. So I think it's fine, it'd be a cute inside joke. Also, as long as you like the name, who cares where you got it from.
