What's the difference between a public school and a charter school?

  • I think that a charter school is *like* a private school in that they can teach from a particular style but they receive some/most public funding so are technically still public.

  • It is a public school but with it's own governing board, rules, dress codes, and teaching methods. My son attends a charter high school...440 kids in 9-12 versus 3000 in the regular public high schools.
