Have you known a black person to get lice?

I always wanted to ask this question. Me being black never heard of a black person to getting lice. Have you? I wonder why other ethnics groups gets it more than we do(if we ever do)? Is it something about the texture of our hair? Just curious.

If you will please bump this  I would love to hear everyone's point of view.

  • Thanks ladies! I just was always told that we didn't get lice, especially when we were in school and there was an outbreak.

  • I think it's less common though since most black people use greasy-type products in their hair. That environment isn't too conducive for lice.

  • Seriously? What was wrong with my reply? It's true, I worked at Sally's and sold MANY of those products to black customers. That's a fact.

  • I didn't vote you down. I don't believe in voting down unless someone is being totally disrespectful. Your answer didn't bother me.

  • no, black people don't get it because they keep more products in their hair than white people do..lice bugs do not like that stuff.

  • Lice also don't like dirty hair. If you wash your hair everyday, you are more likely to get lice.
Even if you wash it every other day, it really cuts your chance of getting them.
So I would imagine a black person with braids or dreads, has a very small chance of getting lice.
