School out early

So this year the school district in my area is out for school a whole month early. They get out in May than in June. Is there any one else that has any thing different this year with school? I want to be able to put the two older boys in the boys and girls club this year hopefully it works out. What kind of things do you plan for the summer while school is out?

  • They had to tack on a bunch of snow days for us. Last day was June 16 (1/2 day). Now they go until June 21 (1/2 day). They also lost their day off this Friday (they now have a 1/2 day) and they lost their day off last month. Spring break was the first week of April and they don't get another day off until Memorial Day. Then they have 3 more weeks of school after that (8 weeks total).
I have no plans for the summer...just lots of time for the kids to be outside doing whatever it is that kids do. Hoping to get them bikes so they can ride around (had to leave their old ones behind when we moved). When the weather is nice we rarely see them--they are always outside playing with their friends. No camps or clubs or anything. We are hoping to go camping a couple times (with a tent) and probably to the zoo and the coast, some hikes...depends on dh's work schedule.
