At what age are you supposed to take your child to the dentist for the FIRST time??

  • When they have teeth and can sit still for a dentist to examine their teeth.

    DD had all of her teeth by 19 months but I just took her 3 months after her 3rd birthday.

  • I don't take my kids until or unless there's a problem. So whenever they get their first toothache. :0

  • Our dentist does not see children until they are 3 years old for an actualy cleaning and what not, but he does however start letting them sit on my lap and having the hygenist brush their teeth witha regular tooth brush around 18 months old. Personally I think they need to go way before they have a tooth ache that is ridiculous.

  • Typically they say around 3. They want to be able to check their bite, and look at their teeth. Anything earlier is silly
