Have you ever tamed wild fish?

Our goldfish live outside in a pond that is 14 x 6 feet. They are completely shy. We can view them from a far distance. Get within 6 feet of the pond and they zip into a tiny cave. Is there anyway to get them to come up to the surface for floating fish food? We used to have goldfish that would all race over to where we were standing. These shy goldfish have been in the pond since last summer. They overwintered outside.

  • Get some extra special treats like brine shrimp for your goldfish and feed them one every day just like goddess99 suggested, but the shrimp might bring them out a little faster than the regular pellets... or do both. I agree with her, in time they will start to make that association.

  • Just go out by their pond more. Throw a couple pellets at a time and keep doing that every day. Eventually they should come to the surface for you.
