Any suggestions on trying to get your 6 year old to quit sucking her thumb or im i jumping the gun?

  • Um no. Its time to quit. I got my daughter to stop by putting scotch tape around her thumb. It is scratchy and tastes like crap. I swear, she quit after 2 nights of that.

  • Bitter aloes (sp?) tastes nasty and is completely safe. Just paint it on and let it dry.

  • theres this stuff in the baby section of walgreen you can paint on her thumb doesnt wash off and again tastes gross tape she could remove at 6 years old its also good for nail biting :)

  • My Daughter's pedi told us to give her a lttle bendryl at night to help her sleep without her paciffer, it worked in three nites.

  • Thumb sucking can be very bad for a childs teeth! I would definitely try to start breaking her of this habbit. I think at 6 maybe you as her mom, could help her to explore other ways to passify herself. But everyone is defferent. Good luck debbielayshades : )

  • Yes im going to admit it I'm 23....and still suck my thumb only at night, my parents tried everything and nothing worked its a comfort thing I hope you find a way for her to stop!!

  • Ive tryed put stuff on her thumb she washes it off . the tape she would pul it off in a second. I think im going to give her a option of her thumb or her teddy bear.
