Are pine needles harmful to babies?

We set up our Christmas tree the other day and I am worried about the needles on the floor and stuff. Can they be harmful if he gets them?

  • I don't think they're recommended. If he gets them in his mouth, he could get one lodged in his throat or something. Can you just keep it well vacuumed?

  • I wouldn't let him be around the needles unsupervised- don't want him to put something sharp in his mouth or eyes.

  • Yes, have you even been stabbed by one? Ouch! I think there is potentially something bad in the needles, like an oil or something. AFter you put the tree in and up, if you keep it watered it shouldn't shed needles for a few weeks at least. ;)
