My daughter is 5 months old now and refuses to use a pacifier. (Not that I am complaining lol). Our pediatrician recommended not starting her with one until she was 6 weeks old and even then she refuses to use one. I feel lucky that she doesn't want it because of all the horror stories you hear about "binky wars". Anyone else's baby not want to use a pacifier?

  • Both my boys gave up their pacifiers around 6 months. Neither one of them were crazy about them and only used them when all else failed. I definitely consider myself lucky.

  • My ODS didn't use one either. However, my 12 month old has an unhealthy addiction to hers.

  • I have 3 children and NONE of them used a paci. I just never gave them one.

  • My first and 4th had pacis and I LOVE them! I tried so hard to get my other three to use them as well because they were great "pacifiers" when I couldn't get to them right away. I never had any problem with mine getting rid of their pacis - my oldest cried for one night when we took his away at 2, my youngest totally lost interest in his at 20 month. But I had limited it to their crib at 12 months. As long as they aren't walking around with them all day everyday I think paci's can be good things - AND they reduce SIDS.
