Really???.....kids get homework in headstart???... My dd is only 3

She started yesterday and she already brought home homework she has to bring in by May 18th,

First I have to let her pick her favorite book and read it to her (that isn't bad)
after reading the book have your child recall what the story was about and what happened (really how is a 3 year old supose to do that? Especially one that doesn't understand all that well)
play word game (isn't bad)
She has to make up a story then she has to draw a picture of the sotry she mad up (really?)
talk about how to read a book
have your child tell you a story (I don't see her doing that either she wouldn't understand)
identify letters with words (that isn't bad)
while driving identify common words

activity 2
sort pictures in living and non living catigories (isn't bad)
have child draw observation of an event
when cooking observe changes in food
do an experament soak a sponge in water what happened to it?
talk about the weather and draw a chart
talk about daytime and nighttime
talk about animals
ask your child how, what if, how and why questions
talk about what happen if you fill a cup up with too much water

activity 3
make a snack at home with the recipe handed from the school
write a grocery list with your child
during shoping identify healthy foods
during your visit identify colors, of fruit and veggies
in kitchen sort canned foods
allow your child to help you cook
plant vegetable seeds in a cup
read a book about food (which we don't have)

they ask a lot from a 3 year old. Plus I don't know how she can do all of this by may 18th.

  • What are they doing during class if you have to do all of that at home? I'd ask the teacher some questions regarding the homework. It seeems like a lot to me.

  • They ask a lot from you! She could handle it I'm sure. It's a lot of your time. Good luck with that.

  • Maybe they are trying to get the parents to spend a little time with their child? That is so crazy! I mean we had them we shouldn't have to help them learn stuff too! Geez
