Has anyone had to give up everything to take care of a child that is acutely and now chronically ill? If so how did you put your life back to become normal?

I am trying to figure out how to get our family back to normal after having a child that has been in and out of the hospital for two years and has required extensive medical care. How have others gotten back to normal, when it seems we have not been in so long?
We are trying to adjust back into the real world now that our daughter is doing very well.
