Have you ever asked for a blood titer for your kids?

This is all new for me. Someone had mentioned that a parent can request during the pediatrician visit to have this test to determine if boosters are necessary. My toddler is having his booster for the MMR vaccine at the age of four if I'm not mistaken. Recently I asked the doctor about the titer and he said that it can be done when the time comes. The test would take place at his office they need to get a blood sample I'm not sure but I think I heard that the doctor only needs to puncture the tip of the finger to get the sample for the lab.

  • My kids are older and way past the vaccine age but if they were not, I'd definitely ask for titers before going ahead (if at all) with any vaccines.
