When do babies start cooing?

My baby girl will be 2 months on May 3rd and she's still not cooing. She tries so hard to talk but nothing comes out. I read somewhere that they should start cooing around 6 weeks. Is she behind?

  • Mine started cooing at a couple weeks but they were also both really early talkers. My nearly 3 year old is a CONSTANT chatterbox still and my 1 year old talks as much as her sister will allow-lol! I believe the average is anywhere from 2 to 4 months. I think that's what I was told when I was pregnant with my first. Your baby girls sounds like she's perfectly normal. :-)

  • My Son is 13 weeks and has been cooing for a long time, I'd say around 6 weeks.

  • Just an update: she finally started cooing full-on yesterday! So 8 weeks for her. And that works for me! I love it! It's adorable!
