What do you consider BBQ in your neck of the woods?

Do you eat pulled pork? Beef brisket? What kind of sauce?

  • BBQ = pulled smoked pork with sauce. I'm not over-picky on sauce for definition, but I like Lexington NC BBQ (thin red sauce), then Eastern NC BBQ (vinegar and crushed red pepper). I do NOT like SC style BBQ (yellow mustard sauce), but recognize its validity as BBQ.

To barbecue (verb) = to make the above out of pork, or to grill out (maybe)(I'll accept this as a verb, but don't use it! ;-) )

BBQ Sauce = spicy, ketchup based sauce that can be put on any grilled, smoked or even roasted meat.

  • Smokey goodness on the grill. I like a little vinegar kick to my BBQ sauce too, reminiscent of Carolina style!
