Poll: Ryan's Deficit Plan vs Obama's.... What do you think?

Ryan budget plan for entitlement reform is polling best (per Gallup) with … seniors

"Ryan’s plan includes a complete restructuring of Medicare for people younger than 55. Pluralities of middle-aged Americans as well as those 65 and older prefer Ryan’s plan to Obama’s, while adults 18 to 29 show more support for Obama’s, 53% to 30%. These findings are in line with approval of Obama by age, more generally"

One reason Republicans fare relatively well on this measure is that independents prefer the Republicans in Congress over the Democrats for handling the federal budget by 47% to 30%. Another is that a higher percentage of Republicans (86%) than Democrats (73%) favor their own party on the issue. Both findings contrast with the pattern seen in preferences for the Ryan vs. Obama deficit reduction plans, in which independents are evenly divided and Republicans and Democrats are equally likely to support their own party.

  • Obviously the Ryan plan.

And it's interesting to note that as the age of the pollsters increases, so does the shoft to the support of the REPUBLICAN plan!! Must be that whole growing up and realizing you LIKE being able to hold on to more of your OWN money!! LOL :o)

  • If we don't pass Ryan's plan we may have NOTHING by the time we retire. The world is warning us about our debt.

  • yes on the auto industry bailout, yes on a prescription drug plan for seniors and yes on the Bush-era tax cuts -- all of which were unpaid for.
In addition to his above voting history,
his plan is not that specific either.

  • I lean towards the Dem plan because, IMO it will take both spending cuts and increased revenue to solve the deficict problem-

  • I'm all for Ryans plan. Our country is in DEEP DOODOO and people just don't get it. the Dems don't really have a plan but if they did I would not be for it at all. It won't go far enough and they will continue to kick it down the road until they can't be blamed for the consequences which will be severe.

  • Ryan's plan is a no brainer and does not address the need to increase revenue . The President's plan is in the right direction but needs more work , so both have shortcomings

    I prefer the President's plan .
