Acne?

My son will be 13 this Saturday which is besides the point i'm just bragging. Anyway... He is breaking out like crazy but it's just around his hair line. We have tried over the counter stuff. I even bought pro active and seeing that he's twelve I can't force him to keep up with it. Do you ladies have any ideas on how to help him get rid of this condition.

  • My kids had acne too but they stopped all soft drinks, candy and chocolate and it all went away.Soft drinks have a bad effect on this problem,if they have to drink a coke, make it a sprite, clear. This works.

  • Here is how my teen handles her acne: wash your face twice a day with a very mild soap (like unscented baby soap) and a soft wash cloth; follow with a light, oil free moisturizer (like Just Tomatoes or Lush). Once a day, before you wash your face, put on a honey mask (just honey, a great anti-bacterial). Every three days add a pinch of baking soda to the honey to exfoliate. Check back with me in two weeks and tell me how this worked.

  • It could be his shampoo. Get a sensitive skin formula shampoo and see if that helps.

  • Acne could be HORMONAL which means seeing a dermatologist.

  • with proactive not being inexpensive....i had my boys swipe the hairline with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alchol. My boys played football so always had it where the helmet was. My now 14 yr old had it awful on chest and back - a trip at the ocean last summer had him so clear skinned....i bought epsom salt at home and he "relaxes" once a week in a salt bath and it keeps it down.
