In your honest opinion; is there any difference between?

lilac and lavender?  I have a lilac bush in my yard and love the smell of it when it is in bloom

  • Lilac is a lighter fragrance, lavender is a little more earthy.

  • Lavender is a plant with edible varieties, and lilac is a shrub.

  • Yes, the fragrances are different. If you smell a lilac flower, and then smell a lavender plant, you'll notice two different smells.

  • My lilacs are over 7 feet tall. Lavender is a lot shorter. Colors are close and fragrances are different. If you saw them side-by-side, you'd see and smell the differences.
