So my mother in law can't make it to our daughter's 3rd birthday party on Sunday because...

She is suddenly going through a divorce. She is manic depressive as it is so I told her not to worry About it and I understand. What should I tell the guests if they ask why she isn't there? Some will ask.

  • Just say she was unable to attend and leave it at that. Change the subject and hopefully whoever asks will have the tact to drop it. If not, just say it's personal and you really can't discuss it.

  • It shouldn't matter to anyone else. The party is for your dd.

  • Is she not medicated??
Not sure why that makes a difference really. Is she still working? Doing anything else socially?
