  • sounds like his kennel is too big. They should only have just enough room to stand, turn around and lie down. It's a dog's instinct not to eliminate where they sleep but if the kennel is big enough they'll use one corner as the bathroom and sleep in another. Getting him fixed is the only way to stop the marking behavior in the house and it's better for your dog's health. I would also start taking him to obedience classes.

  • I would also recommend getting him neutered. And doing what the previous poster said about the kennel.
    Good luck

  • Like the first poster said if he is going in his crate it is to big. He should only be able to stand up turn around and lay down. There are cases where some dogs will go in the crate even when it is the right size. When this happens you want to go to the next size down so that he has no room in the crate. I know that seems mean but it is not something you would need to do forever just until the dog learned not to go in the crate. If he is marking in the house having him neutered might help. It does not always work but most dogs will stop once the hormone is out of their system. Get him on a better routine, feed him at the same time and take him out at the same times every day. You might even tether him to you in the house so that you can keep a close eye on him. do not let him have full access to the house and if you can't watch put him in the crate (that is the correct size)

  • When and if u get him fixed will not necessarily fix thr problem. If u do get him fixed, u will have to go to he pet store and get cleaner that will not only clean upo the pee, it will also have to completely eliminate the smell 100% or he will start all over again. And do the same thing the other women told u.

  • We used to have a dachshund (we own a pitbull now - much lower maintenance in the potty training aspect) and little dogs are often notorious for going potty VERY frequently. We had our doxie fixed BUT it didn't fix his problem, so it helps but it's def. not a cure all. In the meantime though, pick up Nature's Miracle in your pet store. It's a god send!
