Has anyone ever made money off of knitting or crocheting?

I do both, but I have no idea if I could turn this hobby into a business.

  • My MIL did for years. She got to where she hated it. It was good money for things like sweaters, baby clothes and Christmas stockings(she had a knitting machine that did crazy designs) it just became work instead of fun after a few years. Etsy is a great place to start. Word of mouth is pretty good as well.

  • I heard of people making instruction videos with ad sense and making money that way. look at my profile for an example. It is not me on that video, but heard that from my local news.

  • I have, I sold some knit dish rags at a consignment store, and I had a friend who paid me to knit hats, mittens, scarves for her kids. I also sold some dish rags/mittens at my mom's last garage sale. My sil made quite a bit of money selling those crochet mesh kitchen scrubbies at her local farmer's market. You could try the etsy site, or ask a local consignment store if they would be interested in selling your items.
