  • I don't have a dog, but when I did, no, I never hit them, what exactly would the point be? All it's going to do is make them want to attack you...

  • No! Hitting a dog does nothing but teach the dog to be afraid of you.

  • Striking an animal that has no concept of why they are being hit makes no sense. That is irresponsible and a surefire way to cause aggression and fear.

Dogs are pack animals, if you behave like the Alpha they obey.

  • Yes, I do. I have 2 big strong dogs in the house and they are good listeners but sometimes that's not enough and they get smacked and they do learn their lesson. Vote down away.

  • No, I think there are better ways to teach animals to cooperate. An animal cannot understand why you're hitting it, and therefore, all it does it create fear, uncertainty and possibly aggression. I hate seeing people smacking their animals. I have cats, and I use a water bottle to squirt them when they need correction. Years ago, when I had a dog, she was well-trained, so if she did need discipline, using a stern, unhappy voice and possibly a "time-out" worked very, very well.

  • No why would you want to spank a dog? They don't understand when you spank them for something.
