  • The best program is one where you take your child to your local library, check out some books together, take them home and then sit and read to your child.

"Baby Genius", "Your Baby Can Read", and all the others like that are total crap and won't work nearly as well as actually taking the time to read to your child yourself.

  • Actually reading to them and labeling everything is a much better plan. It is the best way. The others...not so much.

  • You're baby can read is a rip off and a scam. You really don't need a program-if you want shows there are great ones on PBS like Word World and Super Why. You can pull up a list of the top sight words on the internet and make your own flash cards and there are some great early learner books that insert words/pictures where a child can actively participate. I bought an old version of hooked on phonics for $15 on I would never spend the hundred some odd dollars but it was worth the 15. It give you lots of ideas on activities and flashcards and so forth if you are totally clueless and need guidance. Label your house with different words, its amazing what they learn so quickly.
