  • Depends on how much the cut is and how they did. I literally just got home from the salon and had my hair cut and dyed brown, then had blonde streaks in. It was $110. I gave her $20 tip because she is a goddess.

  • I'm a stylist and I think you tip according to how well you like what I've done, and how much work I've done. If you don't tip, you must not have liked the cut. But if you turn into a loyal client and you don't tip, that's rude. $5 for just a hair cut is pretty standard.

And when it comes to kids cuts you should tip what you would for an adult cut, if not more. I know, they're kids, they have smaller heads, blah blah blah. But think about all that we have to go through to cut that kids hair. They cry, scream, fight, try to get up, NEVER sit still, always making sudden movements, we have to wait till the parent bribes them enough to just come back to our chair. Usually in the time it takes to do one child, the average stylist could do at least 2-3 other people.
