Does it have to be exactly 6 months?

The other day I went to my gyno app. to have a woman exam done as I walked up to let them know I was there for my appt. they tell me they are sorry but I can't be seen that day bc insurance won't cover it until another week (WTF???) why do insurances do this the last time I was there was Nov. 5 does it have to be EXACTLY 6 months to be seen?
I was a tad upset but got over it real quick... I hate going there I just wanted to get it over with :/
Thanks!
