Would any of you consider that feeling completely disgusting after just having a baby would be postpartum distress if it has caused the person to stop eating to lose weight, not allowing her bf to even touch her, and constantly crying about her appearance non stop(actually crying not like complaining). Also finding it hard to sleep, with constant thoughts of her body and appearance. Do you think antidepressants would help? How would she go about seeking help?

  • I would suggest starting with her ob/gyn who could recommend a really good course of action.

  • It could be...or it could just be really poor self-esteem and body image, as I'm guessing there was some beforehand as well.

Talking to her doc would be the way to go, they're watching for stuff like this!

  • Sounds like it could be PPD. Talk to your OB about your next step, or see if you have psychiatry services through your insurance (you may need a referral from your OB). You may not need meds; sometimes just talking to someone (professional) can make a huge difference.
