Politically correct....

How have we gotten so we tip toe around every one? I refuse to use the "PC" term for a whole lot of things. African-American, did you live in Africa at any point in your life? If no, you are American, get over it. I am not Irish-American, I am not Caucasian, I am an American! That guy, over there, has a green card HE is Mexican-American, his daughter was born here, she's an American.

Sorry that kinda turned into a vent. Anybody else have this issue or am I just friggin nuts? (kinda startin to believe the nuts part....) ;)

  • Plus, just because someone is black, it doesn't mean they're African-American... they could be from the Caribbean or something! The "Mexican" down the street who just became a citizen might actually be from Guatemala! IDK. I think that anyone who has citizenship is now an American, no matter what.
Now, if someone is asking about HERITAGE... that's different.

  • I know two African-Americans who are White. I never use that term because of that...PC or not, it's just wrong use it for all Blacks. I couldn't tell you what I am. Think I have some French, English, and German in there. Eh, I don't care. I'm a white American, not much more matters to me.

  • I don't think it has anything to do with PC. We are talking heritage.....
Can we just NOT be so crabby?

  • I agree, OP. PC has gone too far in many areas.

  • Being politically correct, like many things, lost COMMON SENSE years ago. In this day and age no one can say anything without someone else whinning about being offended. Its truly ridiculous.

  • Being PC to me has gone way too far. I usually just speak my mind. My grandma was Mexican American, she was born in Mexico. My grandpa was Spanish, also born in SPAIN and immigrated. They always told us we were lucky to be true Americans, born and bred here. So I do agree with you.
