Just wondering...

When they say sex helps get labor "goin" (or moves things along), do they mean the girls orgasm gets it goin, the friction of the mans, you know, or the rocking back and forth, or what exactly is it that gets it "goin"?

  • The orgasm and "cumming" can make the muscles contract and kick start your labor contractions.
The rocking and movement can also help.

  • i watched a prenancy show on discovery health channel and they said that the progestrone if the male sperm helps soften the cervix once you get around the due date but having sex doesnt jump start labor just gives you braxton hicks sometimes

  • its alittle of everything the orgasims can cause contractions and the sperm from a man can help soften the cervix. Does it always work no but sometimes it does.

  • The orgasm can cause contractions, but usually they go away. It's the progesterone in the semen that softens the cervix which is what is known as effacement. The cervix has to soften in order to dilate (open up).

  • It's is the progesterone in the semen. As a matter of fact one of the drugs for softening the cervix is made from pig semen.
