Need a gift for an 18 year old young woman, who is graduating & 2 weeks later, off to boot camp....

A very close friend's daughter is graduating high school and then leaving for boot camp two weeks later. She is different from me, so i am having trouble. I'm thinking to just give her money...all kids her age want & need money, right? But that seems so superficial. I make jewelry, but i don't think she'll like the bohemian stuff i make. She is way more conservative...

Is there anything a girl might need before going to boot camp?

Thanks Ladies!

  • Money. She can buy whatever she needs.

  • a small photo album of her friends and family to take along, maybe one that everyone can write memories in for her too?

  • I would give her money or a gift card to somewhere like Target, Walmart, etc.. It may not be "personal" but she will need to buy some items to take with her and that might be a big help when it's needed.

  • A journal bc her adventures in life are just starting. She may want to write it all down

  • A box of supplies, personal supplies, sunscreen, bug spray, a journal, a wal-mart gift card that she can use once she gets leave.

  • If you do the box of supplies, then also put some money in it. That way it's a personal gift, but allows her to also buy something for herself.

  • A phone card- they come in very handy in boot camp! I went to boot camp, and that would have been the best thing.
