I need ideas on raising money fast

I'm already overdrawn from paying to replace a stove a month ago. Now the water heater in our rental house is going out and may need to be replaced. I'll know tonight if it does or not.

I'm already thinking yard sale... what else can I do to raise the money for this? Any and all ideas accepted, start sounding off, CafeMom!

  • Babysitting - even if it's just a one time thing. Maybe put an ad up and see if you can get a kid or 2 to watch during the week while parents go out, run errands. Weekend babysitting at night while parents have "date night". I do it from time to time. Around here babysitting is about $12/hour so it's some good quick cash.
Housekeeping - Maybe clean a couple houses in the neighborhood.
Are you good at making things?? Sewing, crocheting....maybe try making and selling stuff. My mom does it on etsy - she makes homemade crochet blankets.
That's all I can think of for right now.

  • Your landlord should pay for water heater, right? Do you Amscott where you live? Can you get a payday loan? Yard sale is good idea.

  • You might not be able to do a payday loan being overdrawn. Your landlord should be responsible for these things!!! Yard sale is good, sell beverages and baked goods too! Good luck mama!

  • Clarification, WE own the house. I mean, we rent our house too lol... it's a complicated situation, but we own the house the water heater needs replacing in. And we're not technically "overdrawn" in the traditional sense... we have a line of credit attached to the checking account and we've dipped into it. I would prefer to pay it off immediately or, even better, not have to dip into it. I'm getting our stuff together for a yard sale today lol.

I already babysit to meet our daily needs. I need to call the parents and ask if their schedule is set so that I can take more kids on the days they don't need me yet, thanks for reminding me!

  • I think we have a home depot card, actually... but the interest rate on it is just as high as the line of credit, and it will be easier to just write the repairman a check. The fund raiser will be after the fact to try to pay this off quickly.

  • Mow a lawn
    Clean a home
Plant a garden or do other yard work
    Walk a dog
Deliver pizzas- or anything with cash tips
Sell a car? Sell some bigger items- tv, computer, furniture?
