How long are US passports good for?

I thought that it was 10 years but I heard somewhere that it had changed to 2.

  • I thought it was 10 years for adult and 2 years for child. I would check ours, but they are at the bank in a safety deposit box.

  • they do have an expiration date, just check yours. Usually 10 years for adults

  • Nope, I'm wrong. Have a pic of DD's on her blog. She got hers in 2008 when she was 2 and it expires same date in 2013, so children are 5 years.

  • Yup, 5 years for kids and 10 for adults. Unless you are military and get No-Fee passports--I think those are only 5 years regardless of adult or child...

  • !0 years for adults and 5 for kids. I understand the need for kids because they change so much but...I really wish the cost was lower on the childrens passports since they have to be renewed more often
