I just lost my mucus plug and i am only 20 weeks!

I have been noticing braxton hicks all day which pretty normal for me, but I just used the restroom and sure enough I am losing my mucus plug. Should I call my OB in the morning? I am not having contractions now so my only concern is losing my mucus plug. Do you think it will regenerate?

  • You can lose your plug time and again while pg. They can grow back. If you're not having contractions I wouldn't stress it.

  • IMO I would go to the ER just to be safe. If not atleast call your DR

  • Calm down. Could just be bits and pieces. You will be okay... if your scared call your OB in the morning.
OR if you are really unsure, call an ER nurse but I am sure your okay... don't stress it as Ginger posted.

  • BTW- this has happened with me in all my 4 pregnancies (currently almost 41 weeks). But hey make a phone call if your uneasy!
It won't hurt you to call.

  • REGENERATE? I don't know. But if I had Braxton Hicks at 20 weeks, I would see my Doctor.

  • Thank you :) I am pretty calm I think it just caught me off guard. I lost my mucus plug with both of my girls, but not until right before I delivered. Not this soon that's for sure. Right now I am just taking it easy and drinking some water. If I begin to have contractions I will go strait to labor and delivery, but if not I will just call me OB in the morning.

  • Yes, your mucus plug can regenerate. Also, you may want to make sure it isn't your mucus plug. Sometimes yeast infections can have no other symptoms but thick discharge that can be confused with other things. It can cause contractions as well.
