  • Gestation in a dog is approximately 62 days. An ultrasound can detect pregnancy as early as 21 days post conception. You might be able to count pups that early, but once the pregnancy is farther along, ultrasound is not as good to determine number as xrays are. If there is a possiblity that she is pregnant, she should be eating puppy food instead of adult food.

  • It is hard to tell until they get close and their bellies and nipples get extended.

  • First of all ,do you remember when she was bred? If so count the days it takes for a litter to be born. She should be showing around the 3-to 4th wk. Her teats won't fill up till she is almost ready to give birth. If you are still unsure about weather she is or is not, take her to the vet, and have an ultra sound. That will show you the pups and how many . The vet may be ableto tell just my listening to her tummy and a exam. Then you know the answer to your question.

  • With our lab I could feel her tummy and push down and feel some of them. That's how we could tell.
