How can i get my 3yr old to stop sucking his thumb??

he only does it when he goes to sleep it drives my husband crazy and im really not that bothered by it should i be?

  • He will stop on his own. My 5 (almost 6) year old just stopped within the last 2 months. It causes sooooo much less harm than a pacifier, the teenie little thumb is designed to fit perfectly. When they suck, a blood vessel in the roof of their mouth is compressed, rerouting blood to the brain, which calms them.

    There is no reason to take that away from a baby (yes, at three, they are still babies!)

  • If it is only at night then just let it be. The less you make a big deal over it the less he will want to do it.
