  • Use what you have. My son has ADHD and sugar does NOT affect him at all. I don't know any child that has ADHD that is affected by sugar. That is a myth Or as a few psychologists and nutritionists have told me, "a self fulfilling prophecy" of the parents.

  • Sugar is not healthy BUT it does not cause problems w/ADHD. It may cause problems with a rapid spike in insulin levels followed by a sudden drop, which then seems to impact behavior but it is not the sugar per se. Also, flour (white flour will also cause these sudden spikes and dips in insulin levels) and wheat in general may cause certain individuals who are gluten-sensitive to exhibit ADHD symptoms.

There are rice flours and all other kinds that might be a better option for your child. There are also other sweeteners that are a better choice. Each can be found at Fruitful Yield or Whole Foods.
