I am thinking of homeschooling my children. In fact my husband and I are positive that we want to.

My oldest is only 4, so I do still have a year to look into it. I am trying to find more info. and was wondering if anyone knew of any helpful websites on " how to start " . Basically if there are "rules" or guidelines that I have to follow, if there are certain things that I have to prove that I have taught, etc.

we live in ohio.

  • This site has some good information- I would also call your local district to see if they require anything extra and to make sure you have all the up to date info about homeschooling in your area.

  • I like sonlight curriculum. I also like the idea of unschooling as a form of homeschooling. The pdf link I posted is the laws in Ohio on homeschooling.

  • We are about to start homeschooling our DD, and I am SO excited about it! Here is the HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association) and they can tell you all of the laws for your state... HSLDA is a VERY useful resource (and required membership for some umbrella schools)

  • I saw some magazines at the library about homeschooling and I'm sure they would have other resources as well.

  • I'm in Ohio too. Check out our state page too. I belong to HLSDA, but you don't want to use that as your only source. I'd like to suggest you join Happyhomeschoolers group for you to join here, on CM.
