  • Not for my kid. It was the only way to get her to sleep for more than 2 hours at night!

  • YES! Without a doubt! The GI system in an infant is not completely finished forming that young and feeding them anything but breastmilk (yes, even formula) can cause health issues latter on in their life! Feeding cereal does NOT help babies sleep and stretches their stomach which leads to overeating and obesity as a child and adult. Plus, there is NO nutritional value in cereal and can actually stop them from eating as they should - stunting their growth and denying their bodies and brains important nutrition for proper growth and maturation... The EARLIEST cereal should EVER be started (accept in cases of acid issues, which the cereal helps to absorb - lesser of two evils) is 4 months, but most decent doctors or nutrition specialists will tell you it's better to wait til 6.

  • Yes,k it is. And for MOST babies it causes MORE waking rather than more sleep.

Waking in an infant is a GOOD THING... it's a SIDS defense to wake every couple of hours, sometimes even more often. Babies that sleep dusk to dawn are worrisome.

  • Contrary to opinions on here, a tiny pinch once a day is not going to cause obesity problems nor will it cause lifelong health problems. Neither does formula feeding, also contrary to opinions on CM. If you are concerned you might call the doctor and ask. You'll get better advice than you will on here where the spread of paranoia and misinformation show no signs of slowing down.
