My utility bills total $739 this month. Is that high to you?

That is water, gas, electric, phone, alarm and a few other small bills. We are a family of 3.

  • Yeah ours is less then that including our insurance. We're a family of 5.

  • Is your water bimonthly? Even if not, it seems about right. There are always ways to cut down on all of those though. Turning off lights and unplugging electronics, saving water, opt for minimum phone and alarm plans, etc.

  • im a family of four and all our bills plus rent come in around 800 at the most. but we dont own a house.

  • i think our utilities are a little over 600 for everything...

i think that is including car insurance & credit card....we don't have an alarm system.

If your house is bigger than mine, then no...i don't think that is too high.

  • Wow, yes, that seems very high to me. Our utilitiy bills are about a 1/3 of yours and that's adding sewage, home insurance, internet, tv satellite and the phone bill to what you listed. We are also a family of 3.

  • Not too bad, really. Our electric alone last summer was over $400 a month. I would have been happy to pay just over $700 for all of our utilities.

  • Hmm maybe a bit high. There are 5 of us, 2 boys who are 9 and 6 and a newborn DD. We have a 4 bedroom 2 story house. Our power bill this last month was $169, water was $36, phone $20, alarm $37. We live in VA so it was a bit warm last month too. We are not home for 12 hrs a day 4 days a week and have our AC/Heat set to come on an hr before we get home so its not running all day either. Many power companies can install switches to your AC units and hot water heater if thats what you have to regulate it, maybe check with yours to see what they offer?
