  • Human Nature

Answer by gemgem at 4:36 PM on May. 5, 2011

  • Because of all the injustices they've had to deal with throughout their life. Because they don't know any other way. Because they get tired of struggling to just barely get by. Because they fear that if they let their guard down someone will be mean to them. Because that's how they keep control. Because they don't have joy or love in their life. Enough?

  • I agree with meooma. There can be all kinds of reasons. In an ever-growing materialistic, technological world, we have become indifferent to the needs of people all around us. We've come to view human beings as tools, instead of people all in the name of progress. We've all had a part in this. Money is the almighty. Neighborhoods are just where people live in houses instead of communities for people to interact with each other. We make "friends" online rather than in person. Kids aren't allowed to be children anymore; they're pushed to be little adults by the time they're as young as 3 years old. We expect to keep up in the world so we do not take time "to smell the roses" and just be human.
