  • NO!!!! NO solids should be given before 6 months (some people start some around 4 months, but it's best to wait until at least 6 months to prevent allergies).

  • Starting cereal depends more on head control than the age. My son had good enough head control, that his doctor recommended rice cereal at 2 months. Just a little bit, and just for practice.

  • i started giving my daughter cereal around 3 3 1/2 months but just basic plain stuff.. some babies need a little extra though just to keep their belly full my mom told my aunt just to put a tiny bit in his bottle n when she started he acted completely dif wasn't fussing or anything but he was about 2 months old!

  • My baby wasn't fussy, cranky, slept fine, and never had any problems with allergies when we started him on cereal at 2 months and baby food at 4 months. He is 9 months now. Just saying...

Have her ask her doctor at the next well child check. He'll let her know if her baby is ready or not.

  • It's best to wait until 6 months at least. There is no hurry. It does not help them sleep any better and it is easier to just deal with formula anyway.

  • Not a great idea. Maybe she can try offering smaller amounts of formula, but more frequently. At 1 mo old, that baby is too young for anything other then breast milk or formula.

  • I started my son at 4 months and he has no allergies but you can always ask the pediatrician, my pediatrician told me to start him at 4 months and he's perfectly healthy

  • I started my son on cereal when he was 2 months old. I put a little in his bottle. (now he's 5 months and i spoon feed it to him). I think waiting until they are 6 months is neglectful. You go 6 months on only liquids!

  • oatmeal, my girls loved oatmeal, added apples for an extra treat, i started them on cereal at about 4 or 5 months, the doctor said "if they want solids ,go for it" !!! (i was all for it...baby food is way overpriced ) !!!
