Maybe TMI

My 4 y/o sometimes has bright green bowel movements, even when she has not eaten anything green. Anyone ever heard of this? Doctor always says it's something she ate.

  • It's purple food dye that turns poop green. So artificially flavored/colored grape or blueberry foods are probably the culprit. Grape soda, blueberry yogurt are two of the big culprits for my kids.

  • how about things with green or BLUE food dye? kool aid, cotton candy, frosting, etc

also a lot of fruits, grape juice, etc. there's a ton of reasons.

only scary poop colors are white and blood. any other color is fine and is food related in some way.

  • I'd say maybe something she's ate has had food dyes in it.

  • My daughter's doctor said there are a ton of things than can cause it and sometimes if their little bodies are fighting something off, they can end up with it too. She said that they may not actually get sick because their bodies were able to fight it off but their poo could still turn green. she said it is not a reason to be alarmed.

  • I agree with the previous posters it is probably something she ate. It happens a lot to dd when she eats blueberry waffles or yogurt
