  • Probably nothing. People get charged with that, rape, dui, and walk every day.

  • Not only is the puishment not severe enough, it is pretty difficult to prove. You can't just point at someone and say everyone look they are neglecting thier kids! It has to be proven over some time with cps visits and the childrens' doctors testifying to weight loss etc. My dh got custody of his kids due to thier negligent mother, and yea she lost her kids, but still gets (supervised) visitation and never served any jail time or anything

  • It depends on the state and what the neglect resulted in. You have to check your state laws.

  • Depends on the severity and CPS here they can pretty serious about it and possibly take your child away. Sometimes CPS just opens a case to keep a close eye to make sure the child is taken care of properly.
