Breastfeeding and sex?

If you exclusively breastfed how did that affect you and your dh/so's sex life immediately PP and in the long run, as far as dryness, milk leaking, etc?

  • Didn't really affect our sex life- he just couldn't suck on my nipples! Even now, it's been a year since I stopped nursing, and I still have milk, so he has to be careful! My nipples are more sensitive (to pain) than they used to be, which makes him nuts. I agree that becoming a parents has definitely affected our sex life- I don't think it was affected much by breastfeeding. However, I know some women do have a lower sex drive and less natural lubrication while nursing, thanks to the hormones.

  • My sex drive remained so low the entire time I was breastfeeding. I don't know if it's hormonal, or if it's just psychological but my sex life never fully returned until after I weaned each baby.

  • Never really effected us much. After a while I stopped leaking or needing to wear pads.
