Can an 18 month old have shrimp?

Just gave her a pretty large one, cut-up, and she ate it all and said more. Just want to make sure that's okay? No shellfish allergies in the family that I know of, I think she's had a little shrimp before.

  • Well if she hasn't had a reaction then it should be fine. I personally would've waited a bit longer though since shellfish reactions can be severe. I'm waiting until DS is two at least. :\

  • My son has eaten shrimp, crab, salmon, swai and tuna before. Because there was no family history of shellfish allergies or any allergies for that matter his Pedi okayed him at a year or so. Just watch to make sure isn't having any hives, trouble breathing, or acting funny. BTW can I have some? lol
