How can i treat gas in my 5 week old baby when mylicon is not working and he is doing so well on enfamil gentlease?

I dont want to change his formula because he is growing and gaining weight realy well on it and i dont want him to have milk allergies... i need some advice. he is allergic to soy.

  • Like the other ladies said sometimes its trial and error with formula's at the beginning, some you can even get on prescription from your doctor, the other thing to consider is what bottles your using, we had to try a few different types of bottles also until you get the one that works best for your child.

  • If gas is a huge problem for him then the formula may not be working as well as you think.

  • the formula might be what is causing the gas...maybe try gradually switching to a different milk based...put him over your legs on his tummy and pat his back.

  • Maybe the formula isn't right for him? There are so many formula's out there today and if he's having that much gas, I would definitely try another. Some babies can't handle the milk protein in the milk formulas. Enfamil has one of those, you may want to check it out. It could make the difference in the world.

  • warm baths that cover baby's tummy. put him on his back and make bicycle motions with his legs. massage his stomach making a backward "C" (look this up, I could have it wrong here) to help facilitate the gas. burp him often during feedings, not just at the end.

  • i think i know what is cusing the gas now thank you everyone you answers were ver helpful... it is his bottle and his passifier he is getting to much air thanks again everyone.
