Why does your gynecologist leave the room when you undress?

  • providing for patient privacy - medical personnel are required to only expose the smallest part possible for the procedure to preserve dignity - whatching you strip is not dignified for doctor or patient

  • Because then you're stripping for them before they stick their finger up inside you. It get's a little sexual don't you think? Plus you get undressed and under a sheet, they don't see all of you at one time.

    Having a pap smear is uncomfortable enough as it is, could you imagine undressing in front of them too?
