Compassionate or exploitation?

I see that President Obama is visiting a border town and speaking to communities on the border about immigration reform. No matter how much politicians like to talk about reform, nothing seems to get done and illegal immigrants stay in this country without consequence. Lots of people say that they only want a better life and that they aren't hurting anyone, but in a way aren't they hurting themselves and the plight of future generations of illegal immigrants? Not to mention that they end up using more in resources than they repay by supposedly paying taxes?  Isn't the government complicit in exploiting them by dangling a carrot in front of them yet never doing anything to help them gain legal citizenship?

  • LOL Politics and nothing but. As for it helping in his bid for amnesty for illegals, not a chance. It's the economy stupid, the economy.
The only reason he is at the border is because that is the only place where he could get anyone to give him the time of day. Half the people are illegals. Personally, I think the guys has some nerve showing his face here.

  • LBJ Passed the civil rights act. He said, "I'll have them niggers voting democrat for the next 200 years". He had the worst voting record on civil rights before he became president and it dawned on him that he could buy votes. This is the same thing.

  • If Obama is involved, you can bet your bottom dollar he's exploiting it for his own gain. He NEVER does anything for anyone at any time for any other reason than to promote his own sick agendas, and himself.

  • He is in El Paso, and its only a political ploy. He doesn't really care about immigration or us border states.

  • For months people complained that he was ignoring Arizona and the illegals issues. NOW he is there and you are still not happy.
    Just give it a rest.

  • Why do you care Janet?
I have an Uncle in El Paso, according to him, Obama was not a welcome visitor to the city. Illegal Immigrants can't vote, why would any politician pander to them?

  • I see it as a slap in the face. Lots of illegals want easy citizenship but even if it was easy some of them won't do the work they need to do. Allowing them the easy way and then keeping them in their place is exploiting them, and nothing more. It's a step above what they have now because now they will be able to demand minimum wage, but don't for a second think that they wouldn't be willing to work under the table for less. It doesn't help their plight. It ensures votes and nothing more. This is why you see career politicians being re-elected to their positions when they don't work on behalf of most of the people they represent.  If some of you had a more level mind you would realize that this question applies to all politicians as there have been Republicans that have also passed amnesty bills of their own.  You just came to complain about other people complaining about Obama which makes you just as bad.

  • I don't see how failure to act is exploiting them as the government doesn't benefit.
