What color are YOUR kids?

I am listening to my 5 and 6 year olds talk while coloring at the table. My 5 y/o asks my 6 y/o if her friend Rachel is black (general curiosity), 6 y/o says no she is white. 5 y/o says kinda like us, 6 y/o: yes, we are white, 5 y/o: I am not white, I am brown. My kids are dark skinned "white" kids not tanned just naturally dark. So, I ask you ladies, what would your children say was their "color?" So, we are clear my kids have never been around racist people as far as they are concerned skin color is like eye color or hair color, you get what you get and don't throw a fit.

  • My son is half Mexican, so when he was little he would tell everyone his Daddy was brown and he wasn't. He thought it was cool! lol It cracked me up.

LMAO I just asked my 5yo what color she was and she shook her head, pointed at her hand and said "this color?"

  • I just asked my three and four year old that question. The four year old didn't know what to say, so I asked him
"If you were coloring a picture of yourself what color would you be?"
    His answer... "Blue".
Then I asked the three year old and he said "Fart".
I said " you would be the color of fart?". "YES"... (followed by maniacal laughter).

Oh Lord, these kids crack me up!

  • ds/6 says he is 'tan'. he gets his olive complexion from me, thank goodness..not his dad's red/pink/burns easy-complexion.
everyone always makes such a big deal out of how pretty his skin gets in the summertime..he just picked up on the word 'tan', i think before he realized it was an actual color. lol.
he describes others as 'less tan', or 'medium tan'. or dark brown, like our 'chocolate dog'. (who is no longer with us, btw.) some people are more or less 'chocolate'. he has a cousin/my niece who is mixed, AA/AI, with more swing into the AA (because her dad really is dark!), so sometimes he uses her as a guide..''like elisa, but lighter.'' lol.

  • My kids are all part Hispanic and part White. They are all different shades and I always joke God gave me every shade he had haha. My 6 yr old says she and her 17 yr old brother are "Brown". She also says her sister is a little bit brown but her kids are all white and she doesnt know how that might have happened haha. She says her other two brothers are so white they turn all red in the summer.
