Need some creative ideas for summer craft projects to do with children between the ages of 1-3

When hosting playdates every week, its easy to do the same old things. Looking for some fun ideas that are at low cost but none the less fun and creative : )

  • sidewalk chalk, bubbles, foot print butterflies, hand print flowers, foot print butterfly instructions: trace the little ones shoes on construction paper have them color pretty designs (scribbles are fine) glue the "wings" on another piece of paper backwards (like the shoes are on the wrong feet) and glue a pipe cleaner or a popsicle stick or just draw the body in between the 2 wings. Then give the butterfly antennas.  The hand print flowers are easy.  Paint a flowery color on their little hands and place it on a piece of paper.  Then you can draw the stems and leaves and paint a dot in the middle.  These are just a few things off the top of my head.  Have fun!!!

  • Collect sea shells if you are near a beach, then glue into a design

    Paint rocks

Make July 4th windsocks: staple roll a tube of red, white or blue construction paper, then add a string and some streamers of red, white and blue to the end.

  • Toilet paper roll bird/squirrel feeders! Take the paper rolls, punch two holes in one end and tie a string to hang them from. Have the kids smear peanut butter on the roll, then roll them in birdseed and hang outside... let the kids watch for birds!
